RUMOR REPORT: 4/26/08

April 26th, 2008

The following rumors come from several different places around the web. They have some merit to them because the sources have been correct before. But they have also been wrong before. With that being said, NONE have been confirmed by Disney. Original D will not post as truth until they have been confirmed real.

-Star Tours 2. This is one that has been flying around for quite some time. A new Star Tours is in development with a brand new movie sequence, upgraded stereo systems, and upgraded projector systems. The new ride will have guests wear 3D glasses for some pretty cool effects during the ride. If this rumor is to be found true, expect the current ride to close sometime late 2008 or early 2009 and be down for almost a year due to the extensive rehab.

-People Mover. After the Star Tours ride is completed the new focus will be on the People Mover. Bringing this ride back has puzzled Disney about where to put the queue since the building are now inhabited by Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. The solution? Tear down the classic pillar that currently only holds a tiny gift shop at its base to make a brand new and up to date loading platform for the new People Mover attraction.

-Astro Orbiter. As part of building the new loading area for the People Mover, Disney will design the building to once again move the Astro Orbiters to its classic location on top of the People Mover loading area and in the center of Tomorrowland.

-Wall-E. A 3 foot tall version of Wall-E is being made as an animatronic and interactive character that will be able to roll around inside the park and interact with guests. Nobody is quite sure where this little guy would go but Tomorrowland sounds like a perfect fit.

DLR Plans Outlined by Resort President

April 25th, 2008

In recent interviews, Ed Grier (Disneyland Resort President) talked about upcoming plans for the resort. He talked about several things that were already known such as the cars expansion in DCA, re-theming areas in DCA, etc. But there IS some new news in this afterall! Two brand new things are talked about while one semi-new and pretty much been expected topic. Check it out…

*Tinkerbell - Disneyland will open a Tinkerbell Attraction this fall. What does this mean? Well, an attraction can be anything from a small character greet (which some sites are reporting for Tink) to a full on ride. No other details were released besides some attraction will be opening in ‘08 with the release of the first of a straight to DVD series staring Tinkerbell.

*The Garden Walk - Disney is looking into getting two hotels in this area. This would give them a slice of cake for this new shopping, hotel, and dining district located just down the street from the Disneyland Resort.

*Third Theme Park - It was hinted during this interview with this quote: “We do see a tremendous opportunity on our 88 acres of land.” So who knows if he is talking about in the actual DLR block or down the street like the previous aerial photo shows. If this ever DOES happen, don’t expect it to be anytime soon.

New Monorail Red Pictures, Opening Delayed

April 24th, 2008

UnloadingThere have been MANY new pictures posted of the Red Monorail over at MouseTimes They have pics of it on the track, pictures comparing to the old monorail, a few sneaky shots of the inside while the door was open, etc. If you are as excited as I am for the new monorails then this picture collection is definitely one to check out. It looks really nice over the lagoon! Although, the blue one will simply look amazing over that blue water. Still no word on when it will begin to run, but my guess is they want it to be going as soon as possible.

Contrary to what was previously reported as a big possibility, the Red Monorail has been delayed and will not open to the public tomorrow. John McClintock (Disney Spokesman) said that the team working on the monorail “has decided to take a few extra days for test and adjust so it will not open to guests on Friday.” There is still no word on an official opening day.

Monorail Opening Friday?

April 22nd, 2008

UnloadingIt looks like it has been reported that Monorail Red is expected to be open to the public this coming Friday! It looks as though the monorail will have bench seats that face the windows so guests will have the best view possible of Disneyland Park and Downtown Disney. In other monorail news, it looks that the three colors have been announced and are as follows:
*Red Body with Blue Glass
*Blue Body with Purple Glass
*Orange Body with Blue Glass
No announcements have been made officially on when to expect the other two monorails to be running. Hopefully sooner than later…
