According to Disney Officials, the Red Monorail will begin driving around very soon and is set to open sometime in mid-May! This is great news for monorail fans. Once signed off by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, employees will begin their test runs during the day. This could begin as early as this week and most likely next week we will begin to see the shiny, new monorail at the resort during normal operating hours. The blue version arrived at the resort within the last week and will begin its process of being approved as soon as possible. The new monorails look amazing. Let’s just hope they run a little more smoothly than the old ones. They weren’t rough by any means, but smooth would be awesome.

It’s been reported that the BLUE monorail is now on Disneyland property. This is exciting news because it leads us to believe that they are going to be officially beginning running these things around the same time. They look very new yet very retro all at the same time. Hopefully these will end up running more smoothly, as the older ones are starting to get kind of clunky as it drives along the track. The monorails were ready for a change, and now they are coming. As far as when they are going to be taking guests around? Nobody REALLY knows at this point. We reported Blue would be arriving in late April, so it looks like they may be earlier than expected. Let just hope they get them going soon!

It’s been confirmed that the NEW Red Monorail (Mark VII) has been going around the magic beam in the sky late at night to make sure we don’t have a repeat of the scraping on corners as when first tested. This also confirms that the monorail STAYED at the resort to get fixed. I’d almost say this is a blessing in disguise for one simple reason. Always thought it would be weird to have the awesome new Red monorail running with the old ones for so long. The Blue version of the new monorail is still expected to arrive on time in late april to early may. I like this because by the time Red is taking guests around, Blue will be almost here! I included a few pics just in case you haven’t seen the new monorail.
