« on: June 30, 2010, 02:08:13 PM »

Bid farewell to June and hello to summer with this brand spankin' new Disneyland Resort Construction Update!  Anyone in the mood for over 250 new photos from all around the DLR showing off all the latest goings on?  We've got everything covered from the Disneyland Hotel to the Disney Gallery and all points in-between.  Just what is Glow Fest anyway?  Find out inside with not only pictures, but a video too.  You won't want to miss that.

By now you're most likely aware that World of Color has opened and is now playing nightly in Disney California Adventure.  But if you thought seeing the new show was as easy as walking up to Paradise Bay after dark and finding a spot, think again.  With hundreds of thousands all trying to see the show in its first few weeks, what's in store for YOU when you try to come see World of Color?  We'll be sure to go through exactly where you'll need to go & when you'll need to be there in order to make the most of your attempt at seeing World of Color.  To sum it up in three words - FastPass is involved.  All necessary and SPOILER-FREE World of Color information you could want lies on Page 2 of the new update.

It's not called a construction update for nothing.  In addition to all sorts of World of Color coverage from a guest's eye-view, we'll take a look at all the current construction going on, and a rather extensive look at what future construction in DCA is in store, and what that will look like.  With over 250 photos waiting for you, there's not a moment to spare!  Click over to the update NOW!

WOW - I have just spent about an hour going through your fantastic update Matt.  What a thorough and enjoyable presentation.  I love the new refurb of the "postcard letters" at DCA.  Beautiful rainbow banners and letters make a great front.

Glowfest - don't like - your video was well done, but I don't think I would enjoy spending much time in there.  I need to say - Disneyland was always a place I could go, enjoy myself, feel free to be a kid again - knowing I wouldn't have to deal with drunks/drinkers.  WHY do they need alcoholic beverages inside the parks?  Bad enough some nights to wind your way through "partiers" in Downtown Disney when leaving.  Can't for the life of me see where this lame idea came from?  I was having flashbacks to disco and the '80s - big hair - Journey, etc.  Think this is an attempt to create a Boardwalk atmosphere?  Kind of like WDW and their clubs, etc?

Your explanation, written and photos, of the World of Color was great.  I too wouldn't enjoy seeing/hearing the earlier show while waiting in que for my show.  Hopefully this is a learning process for Disney.

By the way, I think your updates and mouseovers do have a power.  Hopefully the Disney powers will see and hear our call for the return of the PeopleMover!!  Again, great job.  Loved it.  Beautiful night shot of the castle!!!

Great update! But Disney is still having trouble in their idea and marketing departments, but whats new?

Anyway I thought I would add my two cents on the whole Glowfest thing. Disney prides itself in being a kid-friendly atmosphere, and that, was not kid-friendly. Given, it is obvious DCA is more geared toward an adult audience but I have seen children, young children enjoying the 'post-card park' as well as their parents and older siblings. Putting alcohol in the park in an open, quite available and plentiful area with a very club-like atmosphere, seems wrong to me. I wish Disney would escape from the fast-paced world and let kids be kids, without dance clubs and other things like that. Disneyland parks are a place for family's, not drunks! Sometimes I wish it would just regress a little bit (though we ALL know DCA needed help).

By the way those where great World of Color pictures, I very much enjoyed them and hope to see the show soon!  :)

I must have spent an hour going through all your pictures Matt! Quantity, and Quality. :)

I'm not too sure about the glow fest, seems a bit too weird. I like the new California letters and I love the fact that Disney is getting rid of celebrate today stuff (God I hate that promotion). Things are looking great in California Adventure, I can't wait to see WoC in a couple weeks :)

And P.S Thanks for the spoiler warning, I want to be surprised when I see the show.

I found an upload of the webcast of the World of Color Premier, and it's epic!!! I've watched the show about 5 or 6 times already. I'm already planning a trip next summer since I'll be returning to the world to do another CP and I'll be going with some friends. I hope it's even better up close!!!

This is one of your best updates thus far. I really enjoyed this one.

As for me, I love the new letters and the banners, they really bring a lot of color to DCA.

To anwser your question about the omnimover clamobiles, I believe the answer is Nemo and Friends at WDW.

I think glow fest seems pretty cool but do they really have to throw alcohol in there espically with children around. I just don't think it was one of their best ideas.

And World of Color looks unbelievable, all of your pictures were awesome.

Great job as always, I am never disappointed with your updates !!

Just a quick question if OriginalD is doing anything for Disneyland's 55th anniversary weekend on the 17th and 18th.

Thanks for the kind comments folks.  Remember that we wouldn't be here without your interest & support!  Keep up the discussions folks.  You all make great points & we want to see more of that!

kjs - correct!  The Seas with Nemo & Friends @ Epcot is indeed the ride where we're all riding in clams already.  Thanks for chiming in.

Beamer - I'm not sure what you're referring to exactly, but as of now I don't have any plans to be at Disneyland on those days because I'm working.  However, if someone was planning to be there and would like to take pictures for Original D, I'd be totally down for that.  If anyone's interested in doing that, send me a PM. :)
