So you're lookin' for a BIG picture update eh? We'll show you a BIG picture update! In fact, once again we've got over 150 pictures ready to scratch that Disneyland itch of yours. Let's not waste any more eyesight, let's get right to it!

So after over a year of welcoming Toy Story [Midway] Mania to the DLR sans seasonal offerings, there are finally new banners up at the Mickey & Friends Tram Stop.

"How to spot a marketing campaign: Step 1 - Identify made up word born out of the seemingly clever fusion of two existing words." "Summer Nightastic" is the reason you MUST visit Disneyland this summer, and all it really is is a celebration of a few minor upgrades to existing shows, and "Magical" - a fireworks show where Dumbo flies.

Sounds good right? Well, one of those upgrades was supposed to be a big bad new dragon for Fantasmic!, shown here. Only problem is that the new dragon broke during rehersals, and has yet to make an appearance in any Fantasmic! showing. Too bad the Disney Marketeers used the dragon in pretty much every "Summer Nightastic" promo.

Remember the coming big renovation to the rooms of the Disneyland Hotel we've been telling you about?
Well Disney finally got around to formally announcing the renovation. Amongest the promised in-room offerings to come are new flat screen TVs, mini-refrigerators, coffeemakers, safes capable of holding laptop computers, new state-of-the-art telephone, cable and wireless Internet connections, and upgrades to plumbing, electrical, heating and air conditioning systems.
Disney also promises "All of the three towers will feature an updated look, with large windows that will give the outside a sleek, radiant blue tint. The windows will replace the current sliding doors and faux balcony railings and are specially designed to be energy efficient and to extensively filter outside noise."

So here's an example of the "radiant blue tint" that's part of the coming updated look. They look fine to the eye, but room guests might not be happy without a balcony, especially if they're used to having one before.

Apparently Disney has had the same thought, as my camera caught this experimentation that looks like an attempt to fuse together the blue tint idea with a balcony of sorts. It looks interesting, but such balconies would require extensive modifications to the existing structure. We'll see what happens here.

Yes the balconies do get used from time to time. Cruise lines are notorious for charging a bunch more for a cabin with a balcony over a cabin without one. We'll see how this flies with Disney's tradition of internal infighting being what it is.

As we head into July, it is certainly warming up in Anaheim. Splashy goodness becomes ever more popular when that happens.

Skull Rock here providing a nice setting for the Hotel's water slide.

Work is continuing near the entrance to Goofy's Kitchen...

kitsonkids is not open yet, but will open sometime later this month. The entire store will be devoted to the offering of duds, shoes, toys and books for your kids. I'm hopeful for this store.

Even though the weather is warming up and the window & A/C problem is unresolved, Disneyland is managing to keep at least one Mark VII Monorail running even during the warmest times of the day. It's certainly progress over last summer when there was no hope of riding a new monorail in temperatures warmer than 80 degrees.

Buy this and be the most popular person in Disneyland! Results not guaranteed.

DRAGON FAIL

Almost a month in now and still dragon-less, yet the Downtown Disney lightpoles are adorned with the seasonal marketing campaign.

Still nothing to mention as a possible replacement for Illuminations...

Little Miss Matched's temporary store is still relatively new and worth checking out if there's a young girl in your life somehow.

Speaking of young girls, Disney has opened a new store just for them in Downtown Disney - Studio Disney 365. As has been described in past updates, here is where kids will have the chance to undergo makeovers that turn them into their favorite Disney Channel stars, and, as one Disney publication put it, into their favorite "pop princess." Yes, you read that right.

Each entrance to 365 is manned by CMs eager to shower you in publications and information about the shop's offerings.

Yes at great risk to life, liberty, and the Y chromosome, the camera ventured inside Studio Disney 365 to see what actually was inside. The place pretty much spoke for itself.

Here's where the makeovers happen...

Other makeovers happen over thisaway...

Each wall sports several flat screen TVs showing who your girl should want to be like from Disney Channel.

Yep. This could happen to your daughters/nieces too someday.

World of Disney now sports some 'Up' plush though Dug was nearly impossible to find.

How many hearts can you count in this picture?

CELEBRATE SOMETHING!!!

Honda's celebrating 50 years of being in America by having a little display of their new Insight Hybrid, and a giveaway.

Wow, Honda's been at Disneyland for 50 years now. Who knew? =P

Think this can compete with the Prius and Fusion? Honda thinks it can.

Hybrid engine looks quite different from a conventional internal combustion engine. Costs a pretty penny to maintain as well.

Car also comes in white, though the color's likely technically named "vanilla pearl elegance" or something like that.

Celebrate the hybrid...or we'll find you...

The fine print. Take notes as there will be a quiz on what it says at the very bottom of the sign later on. =)
